Given that it's the first of the month, I suppose an update is in order.  I've been running a fair amount but not blogging at all.  School has really ramped up, so I suppose something had to give.  I'll try to be better!  Now for the running...

The program hasn't been best-case scenario by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm well ahead of where I was last year at this point.  With school, I've been running about 2-3 days on-1 day off, and only a few times has that 1 day turned into multiple days (something I've really been trying to avoid).  I've said it about ten times now, but the major goal this year is to improve slightly over last year (which wasn't anything to brag about) and use whatever happens this summer as a springboard for training during year one of the PhD.  Medical school is not conducive to double sessions or long track workouts.  Grad school isn't either in all honesty, but it's slightly better given that the day is yours to mold as you see fit.

I've put together a short indoor schedule, which should provide a few benchmarks through to March as to where I'm at fitness-wise.  Treading water 'til Christmas!  One more big exam and a lot of cold weather...

Ran easy with Steve just as it was getting dark.  Took 54 minutes, and it didn't feel like it was that fast, but I mapped the route when I got back, so it was probably just under 6:40.

Ran the Jefferson stairs after for the first time, just testing the waters.

Kick-off 13-mile run for Run Syracuse.  Mike, Ryan, and Steve also in attendance.  Windy!

I don't know if I should blame school or myself for being in school, but my training is flat-out pathetic.

Studied all day then went out just to avoid going crazy.  Very snowy tonight.  Stepped in a lot of slush puddles.

Got out early this morning after a 12-hour library session yesterday.  I was supposed to meet Scott at Angotti's but I thought it was on Erie instead of Burnett and ended up missing him.  Felt sort of droopy so I went back early.

Exams today.  Went skiing after.  I'm entering this retroactively, and I'm not sure what running I did this week beyond Sunday.

In Delaware for Christmas.  Ran Creek Road by myself after I couldn't get a hold of anyone.  I feel bad for not putting up runs for the last few weeks, but the last round of exams took a lot of computer time, which is probably a good thing.

Ran in White Clay with Tim Brock.  Did some trails I hadn't been on before.

Out the Rittenhouse trails to the end then back on Christina Parkway/Elkton Road/Barksdale Road.  Maintained a pretty good clip once I was on the roads for the way back, just as it was getting dark.
